Halal Bass Halal by Bass Bandits Indonesia

A few days ago, I attended an event called Halal Bass Halal from the Bass Bandits Indonesia community. This event is a Halal Bihalal after Eid and a meetup for Indonesian bassists after not seeing each other for quite a long time.

The event was also attended by the best Indonesian bassists such as Ahmad Sebastio of Sahara, Yuke Sampurna of Dewa 19, Trisno Pas Band, Dony Prattiwa (Marvells), Rudy Zulkarnaen (Tulus), Ari Firman (The Groove), Alam Caffeine, and many more. 

Welcomed by the chairman of Bass Bandits Indonesia, Ahmad Sebastio, the event continued with bassist performances, started by Syafi from Ansyaf Techno. Followed by other performances by Herta, Alam Caffeine, Ahmad Sebastio, etc. Then, the climax was a jam session by Yuke Sampurna, Ari Firman, and Rudy Zulkarnaen.

This event is also a warm-up for the 10th anniversary of Bass Bandits in July.

Actually, I've been using this bass since 2018. But it's only now that I got a chance to make this video as a demo for you guys.

Yamaha BB434M bass bridge upgrade

If you guys notice, in my few recent videos, my bass has a slight difference. It's on the bridge. This is because I replaced the standard bass bridge of the Yamaha BB434M with the bridge used for the BB734A. I'm quite satisfied with this upgrade. Different tone a little bit, and cooler look..

 

[Video] Michelle (Bass Version)

This is bass version of song Michelle from The Beatles. I play this song on bass based on Billy Sheehan version back in the 80s. 

Well, of course I like the original version, because the composition was amazing, with the beautiful lyric. Composed principally by Paul McCartney, with the middle eight co-written with John Lennon. The song is a love ballad with part of its lyrics sung in French. Of course this bass version is only the bass in it. Without other instruments, and no lyrics

I covered the song Red Hot Chili Peppers. Called Naked in the Rain, from their album Blood Sugar Sex Magik. This is actualy not my thing. But I've played it before, long time ago, when I first started playing bass. I tried to remember the song again. At first, I even forgot the title of the song :D Well, it's quite challenging for me who is not familiar with this kind of funky slap bass. I hope you like it

[Video] Killer Tune Tokyo Jihen bass cover by Dede SP

In order to fill my music activities affected by the pandemic, I will make bass cover videos on my YouTube channel more often. I've made several videos. You can check on YouTube. This time I covered a Japanese song from Tokyo Jihen. I'm not a person who often hears songs from Tokyo Jihen, but I quite like this song. Blues EP by Dede SP and Yqin Bee

In the beginning of 2022, I decided to release my short recordings with guitarist Yqin Bee. Yqin Bee is a guitar soloist and my bandmate in InstiTutBlues. We originally made this recording based on InstiTutBlues vocalist Captain John's request and originally only for background music in social media posts. ITB Progrock

I joined in a project with the alumni of the Bandung Institute of Technology to celebrate ITB's 100th anniversary. Together with musicians who are ITB alumni such as Donny Suhendra, Candil, Erwin Badudu and others. This project plays a Progressive Rock version of a national song entitled "Bangun Pemudi Pemuda". The video was aired on TVRI in a variety show "Bersama Berkarya Bagi Bangsa"

TRIP TO THAILAND - Burapa Bike Week 2020 Pattaya

I played at Burapa Bike Week 2020 on February 15, 2020 with Aji Brokenbones' Speed Metal Project. Burapa Bike Week is an annual event held in Pattaya, Thailand. It's a biggest motorcycle event and club gathering in Asia.

Speed Metal Project also featuring a Malaysian singer Hatta Junction.

Enormous Strap Review

Something Just Like This - Collab video

I did a collaboration with fellow musicians/YouTube Music Creators in a video. We play a cover of  The Chainsmokers & Coldplay's hit "Something Just Like This". We had a blast, and I like the video alot!

Directed by the singer Dody Antony himself. Dika from YouTube channel "Ini Music Us" plays keyboard and some Indonesian traditional Instruments, including angklung. We also have Dimas Tripramudita of Jionara playing the drums and cajon.

Recording Session with West Java Syndicate

Me as a YouTuber

I'm a musician, but I love to explore other areas in entertainment an arts. Just like last weekend, I came to an event by YouTube Indonesia at Prime cafe and Bistro, Bandung. It's called YouTube Happy Hour. I hung with bunch of YouTube Creators at the event. Talked, and even created video together in a collaboration. And our video won the competition. That was fun and we had great time. Looking forward to meet them again.

Rumah Hati Canada Recording Session

Me, with all West Java Syndicate members just did a recording session for a music project by Rumah Hati Canada. Other than MySelf and West Java Syndicate, a few different artists are additionally included in this project. Rumah Hati is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. They distribute donations to care the orphans in Indonesia.

Happy New Year

I would just like to express how much joy you have given me, and wish for your joy and happiness in return. Happy New Year!
How was 2015? Mine was great. I got some releases with Balum, Aji Brokenbones, Bimbo tribute, as well as some recording sessions I did. Gigs was awesome too. I hope there will be more gigs this year, and of course more releases. It's all for you, guys..

Aji Brokenbones' second album

The second album from shred-guitarist Aji Brokenbones entitled "Mystic of Shred" is now released. I recorded two songs with him, "Power" and "Liar", but only one song, which is "Power" made it to the album.

The release party held on December 20, 2015 at Black Spot, Bandung-Indonesia. Just like the title of the album, "Mystic Of Shred", the event was full fill with a very strong mystical scented done by Aji and his friends, like Debus performances and Silat.
The event begins at 7 pm was preceded by the appearance of bands Barock and The 4Horsemen, as well as in one after another by Aji Brokenbones duet with Speed Metal Project's singer, Rachel sang "Love" and then continued with the song "Arabian" which features a Sufi Dance.
On the event, I played two songs with Speed Metal Project, "King of the Universe", and "Taqwa". These songs came from their debut EP "King of the Universe' which is also being released that night.
And at the end of the show, Aji Brokenbones increasingly craze to walk on fire and broken glass while playing twin guitar on"Warning of the Death".

The album will be available worldwide soon under SHREDGUY Records. Besides myself, there are two other the bass players contributed on this album, Ari Moreno and Dike Andrian
